Subscription Time Again

ADPN membership renewal time is upon us again. The end of May marks the end of our financial year. Invoices will be sent out to all current members, but for disability providers who are not members at present, we would like to see you become part of this strong team.

Our vision is for an inclusive future for people with disabilities in the Auckland region. More than ever with the move towards the Super City, we are working to ensure the political leaders are aware that people with disabilities are people first, with all the same needs, desires and RIGHTS as anyone else. Access from every aspect is being championed by the ADPN on behalf of all people with disabilities.

Our mission focuses on Disability Providers working together to ensure access to, and equity of services, for people with disabilities and their supporters. Advancing the collective strength of Auckland Disability Providers.

As a member of the ADPN, your organisation can feel part of the action and have a voice when issues are addressed.

Facing the Challenges – Working Smarter

May 28, 2010
9:30 amto12:30 pm

The ADPN is proud to announce the first in a series of workshops which will assist the disability sector towards greater collaboration; to learn to be more resourceful, to form partnerships, to share and use networks to greater effect.

If we are to make every dollar stretch a bit further, we all have to work harder and with greater imagination and creativity to ensure we keep our heads above water.

This will be a constructive event, an opportunity to build relationships; achieve strength and economy; improve services through synergy.

When: Friday 28th May 2010
Details: Collaboration Forum Flyer

This workshop will open opportunities for different organisations to work together more. We all have equipment that is not in full time use, expertise that could be shared, training sessions from which others could benefit, premises that could be better utilized, the list goes on. The problem is that we don’t know who has what, nor how to access it. Who knows what we could be sharing and making better use of? Let’s work towards unnecessary duplication, ensuring greater efficiency. It has to be “win – win” all round.

Auckland in Transition

The ADPN is working towards a Super City which recognises Disabled People as being citizens with the same rights and needs as any other and we have made a further submission which can be read: Ak Council Local Boards submission March 2010 (2).

The Social Policy Forum discussion paper is being co-ordinated by the Ministry of Social Development and submissions close on 21st May 2010. Your voice is important to ensure it is Aucklanders who are saying what they want, so write a submission, or send your views to the ADPN so that they can be incorporated into a joint one info@adpn.org.nz
