ADPN Executive meets with Ministry of Health and ODI

Early July 2010, a meeting was arranged with Minister Tariana Turia and the ADPN Executive. However, owing to circumstances beyond her control, the Minister was unable to attend. Instead, the Minister was represented by Dr. Jan Scown, Office for Disability Issues, Trish Davies and Marsha Marshall, both of the Ministry of Health. The Minister sent written responses to questions that had been asked prior to the meeting and these may be read by clicking on the following Whanau Ora and ADPN-Q+ A-from-Tariana-Turia-July-10

Coopetition Workshop a winner!

On May 28th 2010, Forty people from a wide variety of disability service organisations worked together to discuss ways in which we can collaborate, work in partnership or share resources. The objectives were to achieve greater economy, reduce supply costs, establish greater resiliency within the sector and engender an enhanced sense of cooperation.

Brett Marsh facilitated a very active workshop in which he he told the story of why modern day trains are the width they are – based on Roman times! Yes, it is true! The moral being that if we keep on doing what we have always done, we will never make any progress! Now is the time to seek new ways of working.

One of the major achievements of the day was a list of “tradeable” items from which we can all benefit and use.

Read the Coopetition Workshop 2010 Report [ 376 KB PDF] and check out the list of resources we could all work on.

The Auckland Disability Providers Network is happy to assist in brokering trades between providers.
